I landed my dream job in my dream company. Cheers to the good times! For me, nothing could have been more exciting than this. My initial days were awesome. I always wanted to work in this work environment and it was an awesome start to my career.

But wait! Despite my excitement for work, there were days when I feel totally drained out. Those were the days, I felt sluggish at work which left me in a constant state of mild anxiety. And some times, I was totally dissatisfied with what I was accomplishing.

I usually wondered why is it that I always feel tired? How many of you feel the same personal energy crisis when at work?

I believe a lone soul or two would surely raise a hand over this. The Energy Project, a company that helps re-energize individuals and organizations, says that 74% of people at work are experiencing a personal energy crisis.

I felt like going through hell getting up every morning, following the daily routine, and to start work with enthusiasm was a big task for me. I looked at my co-workers who started their day briskly with full of energy and I actually wondered how could they do it?

But now, over the years, I have figured it out! There are certain little habits that are draining our energy daily and making us less creative than what we are. We usually perceive these habits as of no value, but with my experience I would say that these have a huge impact on our body and our routine.

In this post, I am sharing with you the habits that made my life more moderate and grounded. Check them out:

1. The art of sun gazing

We would not be able to survive long without the sun as it gives life to almost all beings. It provides us vitamin D, physical health, mental well-being and helps in spiritual development. The art of sun gazing has truly amazing benefits and I have been personally doing it.

It is all about using the natural energy from sun to improve health. It keeps me full of energy whole day and I have been suggesting it to everyone I meet. Sungazing will benefit you by boosting production of feel-good hormones and make your life less stressful. So, start your day with the sunrise and feel the difference.

2. No doughnut for breakfast

The old saying “breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dine like a pauper is an effective way to staying active for the whole day”. Breakfast is a great starter for productive results, but a portable sugary pastry is not the right fuel that your body needs early morning. It might be delicious, but the simple carbs in those mouthwatering sugary products will soon lead to a crash and you will be all in fatigue.

What has helped me to get out that state of early morning “Yawning” is a bowl of oatmeal, eggs, almond milk and whole-grain food that are full of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Start your day in a healthy way with a balanced breakfast that includes carbohydrates, proteins, and fiber.

3. Keep yourself hydrated

For your body to function properly and stay active, consuming water and food that contains water is important. If your body is even a slightly dehydrated it can cause a damage to your energy level and cause a reduction in blood volume. Hydration regulates body temperature helps to digest food and enables your heart to pump efficiently.

The health authorities recommend eight 8-ounce glasses of water for an adult so that the nutrients and oxygen reach at a good speed to your muscles and organs. I always keep a bottle full of water on my desk to cover up the daily need. Do you have one on your desk?

4. Early and healthy meal at night

One of the major reasons why people wake up depressed in the morning is because of heavy dinners or late meals. When it comes to dinner, going to bed on a full stomach is really a bad idea. If you go to bed with a full stomach by consuming late dinners, your stomach will spend most of the night digesting the food which will lead to improper sleeping and thereby lazy mornings.

So, try to eat and a healthy dinner that can be digested easily. Usually, at night, I prefer picking dishes like salads, raw veggies and food with sufficient vitamins and minerals. This made a lot of difference to my lazy mornings.

5. Regular sleeping schedule

It is best to go to sleep and get up at the same time every day. If you are changing your sleeping patterns frequently, your body is going to be affected and your sleeping rhythm will be spoiled. A regular sleep schedule is what I follow to get rid of that feeling out of whack.

Make your bedroom a comfortable sleep environment and establish a calm pre-sleep routine by keeping yourself away from devices like mobile and laptop just before you sleep. You can also take a hot bath before sleeping and choose mattresses, pillows and sheets that are comfortable for you. If you suspect you have some sleep disorder be serious to overcome your sleep issues as it may hinder your energy at work.

And now I get up with full enthusiasm and look forward to the day with full of spirit. As the demand for work is increasing and people are working more hours there is a constant need of following good habits to adopt a sustainable way of working.

Invest wisely in your own personal energy and see how your work life changes! I found ways to fuel my personal energy by taking time out for my body. What are your plans?
