Why Employee Experience Should Be Your Top Priority

In an extensive study conducted by Performance Accelerated — 79% of people cited “lack of appreciation” as the one reason why they left their job.

The way that the current generation of employees works is completely different from how the traditional workforce used to work. Instead of focusing just on money-making, the millennial generation finds things like peace, and appreciation as equally contributing factors to job satisfaction as monetary growth.

In fact, in another survey by Randstand US, it was found that close to 58% of the people stated that they are willing to stay at their job even with a lower salary if they had a great boss.

Now the question that arises here — how do you become a great boss? Well, the answer to this lies in creating a wonderful employee experience. Or, in simpler words — make sure that your employees feel not just welcomed at their job but also valued.

Here’s how you can achieve this:

Control leads to compliance, whereas autonomy leads to greatness.

It is important to build work processes for team members to follow, but at the same time, you must not control them. Give them the freedom to work on tasks the way they want to, and let them innovate.

Feedback is important, but it should be a two-way process.

Whenever analyzing employee performance, make it a point to not just hear their opinion. If it is good, discuss the factors that inspired them to do the same, so that others can follow it too. If it was below expectations, work on the reasons that led to the downfall. This way employees will feel valued, and become an asset to the company.

If you will take care of the growth of your employees, they will take care of your business growth.

Personal growth is one of the biggest motivators for an employee. As a leader, you need to provide them the resources and the opportunity they need to grow in their career.

If you focus on the growth of your employees, they will take care of your business growth.

Contrary to popular belief money is not the prime factor that motivates employees, emotions are. To build an unparalleled employee experience, focus on the humane side of work. Build a work culture around employee appreciation, and celebrating as a team.

The Future Lies In Building A Great Employee Experience!

We’ve already seen a huge transformation in work processes, with teams switching to remote work from traditional brick and mortar offices. The future is going to bring a number of other changes to cope up with this transition. And, building a great employee experience is going to be the biggest of them all; especially with employees working remotely. Leaders will need to understand this and focus more on building a humane connection with their employees, instead of just offering them monetary rewards.
